Curatorial Rationale
This project involved the comprehensive bibliographic and material analysis of a rare volume from the New York Public Library’s Rare Books Division. The work focused on examining the book as a historical object, documenting its binding, paper, typography, and design attributes.
A strange mix of recipes, games, medicinal lore, and domestic advice, all wrapped in a volume that whispers stories through its paper, stitching, and ink. Its bibliographic peculiarities offer insight into 17th-century print culture, and this analysis investigates the book as an artifact of curiosity and care.
